Ashtrace: "Dog Kills Gun"
Ashtrace is a band working entirely in a DIY fashion. Their co-founder and composer, Giorgos Zacharopoulos, lives in a warehouse that is used like a recording and art studio, writing their music in this collaborative project, with help from Antonis Glynis, Konstantinos Kapsimalis and Giorgos Kanellopoulos.
Dog Kills Gun is their debut album following the release of their first two singles , Narwhal and Withdrawal. The album was recorded, mixed and mastered in its entirety by Giorgos Zacharopoulos in his warehouse, with a couple of mics and very few equipment available. “In Dog Kills Gun we tried to capture the sound of a band playing in a warehouse/garage. The sound of Ashtrace is a mix of hazy melodies and heavy distorted guitars with dry, heavy bass and rhythm sections that might make you wanna dance.” says Giorgos. All three members of the band provide vocals. Giorgos Zacharopoulos, the composer of the band plays all the drums and guitars and most of the bass, while Antonis Glynis, co-founder of the band, sings most of the vocals. Giorgos Kanellopoulos is the co-songwriter and vocalist for the lead single Narwhal but he is considered to be the bass player of the band. Finally Konstantinos Kapsimalis mainly worked on the artistic side of the album, like designing the album cover etc.
