By Jack Rush
Athenaïs is a French producer, live performer and DJ based in Berlin. As a singer and musician, Athenaïs captivates audiences with bewitching vocals, retro synths, poetic lyricism, field recordings and improvised melodies. Inspired by genres like New Wave, Synth-Pop and Psychedelic Rock, she blends electronic and acoustic elements to create an hypnotic soundscape.
Athénaïs gained recognition through her eclectic debut album 'Codes Lumière,' which led her to perform at festivals such as Fusion, Dockville, and Garbicz, as well as clubs like Sisyphos, Renate, Katerblau, Ritter Butzke, and Departamento in Mexico. She has also supported acts like Kerala Dust and Thylacine.
Now Athenaïs has released her new single, “IRUKIH” IRUKIH marks the beginning of a new chapter in Athenaïs’ sound, as it leads into her forthcoming electronic album, “LÂCHER-PRISE,” set to drop in 2025 on her own label, Coucou Records.
IRUKIH is inspired by Athenaïs’ first trip to Mexico, capturing the desert's mysticism and raw power. The track blends distorted French vocals with an acid bassline, layered over cosmic synthesizers, creating an hypnotic drive with a touch of retro '80s nostalgia. IRUKI reflects Athénaïs' love for both psychedelic rock and electronic music, with rhythms influenced by the Berlin’s club scene.
