Craig Cooney: Realise
Dublin rapper Craig Cooney jumps into what’s sure to be an exciting new year for the rising artist with the release of a new single “She Doesn't Realise.” Produced by Chris Kabs, the melodic rap song features Craig’s signature quick and thoughtful lyrics, as well as a chance for him to show off his impressive singing voice.
The song is about a girl who doesn’t see her full potential. She feels insecure and doesn’t realise she is deeply loved, which is something that Craig knows a lot of women face. He says, “The idea sprung from wanting to write a song for my five-year-old daughter. I want her to realise that she motivates me to do my best, and that I will always be with her on life’s journey, supporting her and reminding her that she is amazing.”
Craig describes the track as “a song about unconditional love.” Craig has never been shy of talking about things that other rappers don’t, like mental health, emotional struggles, self-belief, and issues that face the country. A family man, active community member, and mental health advocate, he has always used his platform for starting conversations and facing stigmas.
One of Ireland’s most established rappers, Craig Cooney continues to innovate and push boundaries. He is known for his unique storytelling, heartfelt lyrics, and impressive freestyling skills. Craig has played headline shows in major venues across the country. He has released multiple singles and collaborations that have received press acclaim and national airplay, and founded a cypher series featuring local artists. In recent months, Craig played a sold-out gig alongside friend JyellowL. He also co-directed and soundtracked “Vultures,” an award-winning short film highlighting the reality of knife violence in Ireland.
