Fred Hills: Begin Again

Let Fred Hills lift you up with “Begin Again”

by Jack Rush

Ambitious, diverse and heavily swayed by extraordinary sound, Fred Hills creates captivating compositions by fusing influences from around the musical world. Inspired to play by the unique and revolutionary musicians that preceded him, Fred Hills incorporates his love of jazz, prog, electronica, world and folk music into his colourful rhythms, melodic ‘open-handed’ beats and delicate guitar-based compositions.

Fred has written, recorded & toured with a number of esteemed artists including Ellie Ford, Michael Baker, Time for T & Mara Simpson. Fred was commissioned as composer & live drummer for theatre company 'Something Underground' on their acclaimed play ‘Knife on The Table’.

Fred's debut EP 'Incerto', released via Ninja Tune, draws influences from The Cinematic Orchestra, White Denim, Jose Gonzales and others. BBC Introducing described Hills' EP as, ‘a tapestry of delicate and expressive guitars, eloquent strings and colourful rhythms’. Brought to life through collaborative efforts with producers and sound designers; Alex Barron and Aneek Thapar, who share Fred’s vision to create music and sounds that defy genres and cross traditional boundaries.

His latest release, 'Begin Again' is an uplifting song about finding your feet during difficult times and mental health. Heartfelt & sincere with a catchy chorus and intertwining guitar solos, this song is well suited for a long country walk or a slow day at home. With elements of indie, folk & dream-pop, 'Begin Again' was produced by multi-instrumentalist & arranger Andrew Stuart-Buttle (Bess Atwell, Lucy Rose, Samantha Crain). For fans of White Denim, Villagers, Damien Jurado & Nathaniel Rateliff.
