Hustle Souls Release Their EP: Walking Off the Plank

Asheville, North Carolina’s Hustle Souls released their new EP Walking Off the Plank this past Friday, and it’s a tasteful show of their versatility and songwriting prowess. The EP, which is the 3rd official release from the band, showcases the band’s ability in a new light with its more ‘stripped-down’ jazz-like approach to the recordings. Fans of Hustle Souls are familiar with the upbeat, dancey, full band iteration that the band has been touring the last few years, but this new collection of songs provides a laid back refrain. It’s a soundtrack for the more simple moments in life, and the songs are meaningful and thoughtful. Lead singer Billy Litz shares lyrical perspective into “changes he saw happening in the outside world”, covering topics of loss, substance abuse, loneliness, unemployment and more. But the heavier themes at points are balanced with a light, playfulness at others. Listen to the new EP Walking Off the Plank below and follow the band as they begin to spring up more tour dates throughout the Southeast.
