Interview: Blooming Fire

Interview: Blooming Fire

BLOOMING FIRE is a brother sister fronted, activist-charged psychedelic band who prides themselves on being vocal for justice, sustainability, and equal rights.

The message behind their music is inspired by the beautiful sights and sounds of Mother Nature. Their sound will never be restricted to one genre but Blooming Fire’s defining sound is their own and takes you on an emotional & musical ride which permeates through the psychedelic waves of life, drawing from an eclectic mix of genres including, Alt Rock, Psychedelia, Reggae Fusion and Hip Hop.

Blooming Fire has performed at multiple Climate Strikes, Animal Rights Events and Non Profit Fundraisers in Los Angeles. They have raised money at multiple shows for the California Fire Foundation, Standing Rock and Homeless initiatives.

We had the pleasure of checking in with Blooming Fire and they were kind enough to respond to a few interview questions.

Thank you for this interview today. What have you been up to lately?

Thank you for having us on! Currently we're working on our debut full length album! After releasing our first 2 EP's, Dunia and Centipede, alongside some member changes we have been in the studio writing since the beginning of the year. We're also working on some fresh live videos and music videos to accompany our last EP Dunia. Besides that our main focus has been with our fans, connecting with them is our highest priority so we created a private fan community for our most dedicated fans called the Earth Headz!

Any hidden talents to share?

Besides our love of music we are extremely passionate about connecting with nature and playing outside. If it involves doing something outside, I'm sure you can find us doing it. As a band we go on endless hikes and adventures always cleaning up trash along the way and jamming out in the middle of nowhere in the serene landscapes of what inspires us most. We are really into outdoors sports like snowboarding, skateboarding, roller skating and kayaking.  Ian Nagay (Lead Vocals and Keys) is a downhill longboarder and has entered several races. Sierra Madre (Lead Vocals and Sax) is a fire dancer, hula hooper and aerial silk artist. We also love to make homemade costumes as a group, we edit a lot of our photo and video content ourselves and partake in family dinners on the regular because Sierra is an incredible chef.

Fictional place you would love to live in?

Definitely Pandora the world of Avatar, the Shire in the North West of Middle Earth from Lord of the Rings or Narnia

When do you feel most creative?

Honestly we feed off of each other's energy so even if one of us is feeling a little off we are almost always able to get past it right away and tap in. One of us will lay down a sound or riff and we all start vibing off of it, adding things in and collaborating right away. Sometimes it's just a warm up jam, sometimes it's a 30 min flow and sometimes we find a sweet little pocket with a hook that we can't get out of our head. Those are the ones that we usually end up revisiting and turning into songs. We actually have to cut ourselves off from jamming too much because we end up writing so many songs and then the list gets too big to be productive. We've never struggled with finding a creative flow and inspiration can come from each other, other artists, live events, nature walks, our fans, travel, food, family as well as things that get us fired up like injustice, inequality, climate change, environmental policies, politics and the system that's always trying to keep us down, inspiration is everywhere, you just have to open your heart to it.

Any predictions one year from now?

Hopefully the world will be in a better place than it is now! As a band we're hoping the album is close to being released with music videos that accompany each song in a dreamscape flow that connects in one way or another, some will be more abstract and some will have storylines. We are praying that we can play live shows again and have a tour booked for the album. Either way we will keep writing and creating!

Please tell our readers where we go to follow you!!!
