Interview: Natasha Meister

Interview: Natasha Meister

With a voice that demands attention, guitar skills to compliment, and songwriting filled with undeniable passion and depth, 29 year old artist Natasha Meister is a force to be reckoned with. Hailing from London, ON, Canada, Natasha plunged into the world of music from a ripe young age seizing every opportunity to mould her craft. After high school, she moved with her family to South Africa for 10 years where she laid down solid groundwork for her career. She wasted no time and hit the gigging scene hard performing as a solo artist and in and out of several bands. Experimenting and evolving her music over the years from blues to rock to pop, took her down the path of developing her sound as an artist and ultimately fronting her most successful and recognised band, "The Sweet Resistance". The Sweet Resistance debut album "Where There Is Hope" included 2 top charting singles on SA radio. Having captured the attention of the industry, they were provided with the opportunity to open for +Live+ and The Pixies on tour in SA. They left their mark on the South African music scene within less than 3 years of being an active band. Natasha is now back home in the Canada hitting the GTA music scene by storm.

We had the pleasure of checking in with Natasha and she was kind enough to respond to a few interview questions.

What has been taking up your days as of lately when it comes to your music?

Having more time than usual on my hands these days, I’ve been keeping busy with songwriting and listening to new and inspiring music.

What lesson did you learn in 2020 that you want to take with you into 2021?

The lesson I learnt is to be patient and to love one another. During these trying times we have to hold on to hope for better days and the best thing to do right now (and always) is love and care for each other even if it’s from a distance.

What was the last song that moved you to tears?

“Still Have Me” by Demi Lovato. It’s such a powerful anthem of self-love.

If you weren’t an artist what would you be?

I have no idea haha. Probably still something in the line of music, like a producer.

Where can our audience find you and support all your current and new projects!!
