Lauren Ray: "Moment" - Jakit Remix

After independently releasing her second album ‘Woman In The Arena’ earlier this year, Lauren Ray is now releasing amazing collaborative remixes of some of her favourite tracks. The first track on the album is ‘Moment’ and she has now released this incredible Melodic Future Bass/Pop Remix by new UK Producer duo JAKIT.

Moment is an anthemic song all about the importance of living in the moment. The original version on the album is pure singer-songwriter pop but it works incredibly with this more chill/future bass production.

The album ‘Woman In The Arena’ was produced by Julian Emery (Lissie/ Nothing But Thieves/ McFly) and mixed by Cenzo Townsend (George Ezra/ U2/ Florence & The Machine) ‘Woman In The Arena’ displays a strength and vulnerability from the British singer. Showcasing Lauren’s huge talent for songwriting and an ability to blend genres the album’s 10 tracks move effortlessly between pop, classic singer-songwriter, soul and even country – a sonic step up from her 2016’s debut ‘We Will Need Courage.’

With already over 82K streams on Spotify alone, highlights of the album include the single ‘Moment’ which is an upbeat and anthemic pop song all about the importance of living in the moment and ‘You Saved My Life’, a beautiful ballad that would sound at home on any Alison Krauss album. The melancholic but upbeat ‘It Was Worth’ delivers its message of ‘knowing you cannot numb pain without numbing joy’ to excellent effect whilst ‘What We Came Here For’ broods in its tale of infidelity.

The catchy single ‘Irreplaceable’ is a stand out, picked up by the Daily Telegraph last year who called the track “An upbeat, infectious slice of pop”. ‘I Decided On You’ is an unashamedly joyous song about loving someone and ‘Worthy’ is another ballad with a classic country vibe which was featured on Love Island 2020.  And don’t miss the album closer ‘Something More’ - a calm and matter of fact break-up song, which strips back the production to let Lauren’s voice shine.

The album’s title ‘Woman in the Arena’ is inspired by ‘Citizenship in a Republic’ - a speech by Theodore Roosevelt, often referred to as ‘The Man In The Arena.’ This speech speaks so much about vulnerability; it’s a willingness to be “all in” regardless of the outcome, which resonated with Lauren when reading Brene Browns’ book ‘Daring Greatly.’

Lauren released her debut album, ‘We Will Need Courage’ in 2016 which had support from BBC Introducing and BBC Regional Radio.  She opened for Lucy Spraggan’s 31-date UK tour in October 2017, followed by a 12-date UK tour supporting Rebecca Ferguson and a European tour with Anastacia in 2018. Most recently, Lauren has opened for Paul Carrack twice, completing 31 shows in 2019 and 26 shows in 2020 (the last six shows now delayed to August).
