Roberto Pianca/Sub Rosa: "Mono no aware"
Swiss guitarist Roberto Pianca brought together in the group Sub Rosa some of the finest young jazz musicians on the international scene. Dealing with complexity in terms of composition as well as freedom within improvisation, the music is appealing to an audience who loves listening to a contrast created between virtuosic rhythmical patterns and ethereal atmospheres, as well as consistent musicality and interaction coming from all five members of the band. “Mono no aware” is the second album of the band. Translated as "the pathos of things" or "a sensitivity to ephemera", “Mono no aware” is a Japanese term for the transience of things, a bittersweet feeling of having been witness to something that is going to finish or change, as in music the essence of improvisation.
