Rocklee: "It's a Feeling"
Montreal, Canadian producer RockLee’s much-anticipated release It's a Feeling (co-written with prolific Montreal songwriter Paul Cargnello), is a soul-stirring duet featuring two of Montreal's finest RnB up-and-comers Mel Pacifico and Uness.
“It's a Feeling was actually created over a challenge on Instagram. Mel Pacifico had released an IG story of her singing a few of the lyrics without any instruments.” explains Lee. “Musicians were invited to produce a melody around what they heard or singers could add vocal runs and make an interpretation of the 15 second video they’d seen. I contacted Mel so I could have the original video and put her voice directly on my musical production. She really loved what I did and shared it to her story. I thought that 15 second challenge was a way to promote her project so I never thought about the possibility of making a full song with it. It’s only when I met Paul Cargnello years later while working on my project that I considered that little piece of chorus laying there. I contacted Mel to find out when her song was coming out and she told me she wasn’t actually releasing anything and that it would be great if I produced the full song with her. The rest is history!”
Immediately after studying jazz at the Université de Montréal, RockLee toured the globe as a drummer playing pop and world music. He shared the stage with internationally celebrated artists Corneille and Wesli, hip-hop legends Muzion, Quebec luminaries Claude Dubois, Paul Cargnello, Dominique Fils-Aimé, to name but a few. RockLee’s extensive experience as a performer had made him one of Montreal's best kept secrets.
Well, now the secret is out as he has been bringing a multitude of artists under one collective umbrella throughout this past year. RockLee describes his latest project as "a fusion of sounds meant to evoke a sense of nostalgia". His goal is to offer the new generation of music fans the chance to sonically reconnect with those important moments in their lives.
RockLee unveiled his first production endeavor in 2020 with his single I’m Right Here, serviced to radio internationally in 2020. Regardless of what hat he may be wearing, producer and performer RockLee seeks to bring a different perspective to the pop game and prove that music is not simply about cooky-cutter earworms and commercial appeal.
