Roza: "Forever Resilient"

Roza: "Forever Resilient"

It is September of 2020. Tucked away in the studio bedroom of an apartment, located near The University of New Hampshire’s (UNH) main campus, Anthony Rosa lives with his Golden Retriever, Roxi. Rosa, who goes by the artist name,” ROZA”, is currently working on his third take of vocal tracking for his next single, 2020 Bars, with his producer, Dan Searl. Even with a lot on his mind, he stays cunningly focused on nailing his final take. In his single, ROZA references some of this year’s most impactful events, including the COVID-19 pandemic. In fact, this is not his first lyrical dance. Having been writing rhymes since the third grade, poetry has become a way of life for Anthony. Throughout his childhood, he would write poems for his mother weekly. Today, at the age of 21, it is clear that this is not his first time behind the mic. He has been drafting lyrics since 2018 and practicing in the studio since just June of 2020, when he began to consistently put more time into his musical career. As a growing intellectual, he is also pursuing his Bachelor of Arts with a major in business marketing and a minor in psychology.

ROZA recently dropped his second single, “Forever Resilient”, on August 28th, which landed on multiple Spotify playlists within one week of the song’s release. His enticing blend of spoken, yet poetic-style words is enhanced with his signature smooth rap flow. When asked about his musical idols, ROZA named Polo G, J. Cole, Eminem, and JUICE WRLD. Recruiting a league of his own, he surely stands out within the UNH community, where he is well known as one of the most talented upcoming artists.

Aiming to share valuable morals and wisdom with his listeners, ROZA writes, raps, and sings from his heart. His music is his passion. The meaning of his lyrics and the stories behind them originate from his experiences and life goals. In March of 2017, Anthony tragically lost his grandfather to cancer. Ever since then, he has narrowed his focus to his family, education, and music. “I will never forget who I am doing it for,” ROZA assured, “Tough times just make even tougher people. My grandfather always said, ‘Follow your dreams. As long as you’re happy, I’m happy.’” Anthony was always extremely close with his grandfather; it was as if he was his own father. January 7, 2020: Anthony was driving to a dental appointment, located about 2 hours away, in the early morning. When he was about 10 minutes away from his destination, he lost control of his lowered 2012 Mercedes-Benz C300. Faced with black ice during a sharp turn, Rosa’s vehicle stood no chance. After going nose-first into a ditch, the car accident left him with two broken vertebrae in his lumbar spine. This brought his athletic and military careers to a screeching halt. It also drastically changed his daily life. Suffering from limited physical ability and chronic pain, Anthony has spent the majority of 2020 recovering in his home. After some time, he worried that he would never fully recover from his injuries. Refusing this as his fate, Anthony persevered through a great deal of physical therapy and rehabilitation.

After not too long, ROZA was back on his feet and in the studio! Determined to produce and perfect his debut album, he promptly got to work. With his currently unnamed debut album set to hit the air waves intentionally in early 2021, ROZA intends for it to inspire his listeners to optimistically move forward from all of the hardships they’ve experienced in not only 2020, but at any point. Music has always gotten him through the hardest of times. After years of writing poetry, ROZA has developed his own style. Now, he will share his music and hope that it does the same for his audience.

When Dan Searl, the founder and owner of the Boston-based record label, Lit Honey Productions, discovered ROZA this past early summer, the young artist was signed to the label within the next week. “The first time that I talked to Anthony on the phone, I could tell that he was a talented artist, merely from his vibes,” said Searl, “It wasn’t a surprise to me that when I finally got him into the studio, I almost immediately fell in love with his chill rap style. It blends the boundary between rapping and spoken words in a unique and modern manner. Honestly, he kind of reminded me of Mike Posner!”

Poetic, introspective, and reflective- ROZA has a vibe that’s ready to catch. You can stream his current available music, Forever Resilient and To Be Brave, on all streaming platforms NOW. His next single, 2020 Bars, is set to release later on this month.
