Andy Hobson: Rise

Andy Hobson: Rise

Andy Hobson takes us up with the ascending meditative melodies in his latest single, Rise

Like a 21st-century Nick Drake after a spiritual awakening, Andy Hobson’s orchestrally haunted meditative single, Rise, delivers an insurgence of evocatively-heightened upraising energy.

As the delicately honeyed vocals carry reminiscence to Nada Surf, the lyrics claw away at any sense of nihilism while the sun-kissed acoustic strings ever-ascend above the orchestral strings.

The singer, songwriter, instrumentalist and producer always finds a way to bring his wisdom as a spiritual teacher into his work, but Rise may be his most efficacious sonic lesson yet, for the way it encompasses the potential for plaintiveness and the even bigger opportunity for gratitude and greatness.

Rise, was mastered by Stefano Ferracin and features Tom Meadows (Kylie/Will Young) on drums.

Andy Hobson said:“This is a bittersweet song about the passing of time and seeing the ups and downs of life as the same thing. Both can lead to new adventures. The song started as a dance track with big drums and a groovy bass line, but the emotion of the melody and lyrics didn't really fit, so I stripped it back to acoustic guitar and wrote a haunting string section to give a final lift in the outro.”
