Black Lion: "Jungle"
Just like everyone else right now, Toronto based Recording Artist/Producer Rich Lindo is experiencing the effects of the COVID-19 global pandemic. With many stuck in quarantine, he keeps himself busy during the downtime. His new single, “Jungle”, is a result of that.
Addressing various themes throughout the track, Rich Lindo stays sharp with the lyrics, and encourages listeners to be aware of what’s going on in the world. With pandemics, protests, injustice, and theories running amok, Rich Lindo uses his voice and platform to bring awareness, and encourage listeners to see the bigger picture. It’s really a jungle out there, and he adds that “Everywhere the beast is crawling, there ain’t nowhere to hide…”.
With an encyclopedic knowledge of classic hip hop and a thoughtful eye toward the future of the genre he loves, Black Lion Productions founder Rich Lindo is one of the most promising artists to emerge from the Canadian rap scene in recent memory. For the past several years he has been steadily building a reputation as a clever lyricist whose words are as entertaining as they are inspiring.
Rich’s career officially launched in 2015 with the release of his first mixtape ‘The Prodigy and The Architect.’ With its intricate lyrical flow and R&B inspired production, it earned instant critical acclaim, leading to profile raising appearances at Canadian Music Week showcases. He continued to build off that momentum with his debut EP ‘FREE ASSOCIATION’ in 2018, as well as performances at festivals and colleges across Canada.
Rich’s most recent release was the EP titled ‘Black Lion: The Summer Jam.’ Its lead single ‘SURVIVE’ featured hip hop artist/educator Testament and Ray Robinson. Its universal theme of resilience in the face of struggle and hardship resonated with audiences worldwide, garnering over 85K streams internationally on Spotify alone.
“Rising above one’s circumstances; overcoming obstacles; survival; thriving; struggling and fighting; competing; motivation; love; joy; pain; betrayal”, are themes Rich Lindo bravely explores in his upcoming album Year Of The Lion. Slated for release in March 2021, the 10 song full length project features production from two-time Grammy Nominated, Juno Award Winner Tone Mason (Drake, Jay-Z, 50 Cent, Busta Rhymes, Saukrates), Polaris nominee Junia T (Jessie Reyez, YG Tut), as well as other accredited international producers from North/South America and Europe. Other notables contributing production assistance are Milos 'Don Mills' Angelov on guitar (JuiceWRLD, boi1da), and Octavio Santos Jr on horns ( G Unit, Slum Village, SiR).
Explains Rich, “This album is inspired by my life’s recent and past personal experiences. It serves as a cathartic outlet for my emotionally charged experiences as much as it is meant to connect with my target audiences. In fact the emotion and honesty behind my music historically has helped listeners connect with it more deeply and I anticipate the same will be true with this new album to an even greater extent. People will connect to these universal themes because they represent many natural human conditions that the majority of people can relate to through personal experience at some point in their lives transcendent of age, gender, culture, or ethnicity.”
Rich Lindo brings passion and vigour to every project he creates. He is a true believer in music’s power to change lives for the better, and is happy to embrace the platform he has been given to spread his message. With a new Black Lion release already in the works, 2020 is shaping up to be his biggest year yet.
