Corinne Quinajon: Home Now
Corinne Quinajon is a Hawai’i-born, singer, musician, and music composer. She is the founder of label GalaxyQueenRecords , an independent trademark of music recordings. In 2021, Corinne released her first two singles as an artist titled “Home Now” an electronic pop piece, and “Crazy Bird” a Blues/ Rock song. Both were produced under eclectic Producer David Pichard of DWP sounds.
In 2014, Quinajon left the islands at a young age to move to San Francisco, a place where the artist uncovered a blooming passion for the arts, and creativity. As she fondly calls it, “the Renaissance of my soul”. This time was a period of immense creative output, learning, and discovery- she’d often write dozens of songs a week roaming the parks of San Francisco, and soaking in the innate artfulness of the City.
Quinajon is a multi-instrumentalist. Beginning with classical piano at the age of 5, she has continued on to learning a breadth of instruments including the 24 lever string harp, acoustic guitar, drum kit, and ukulele. The 28-year old has a knack and desire for picking up new instruments. Vocally, Quinajon studied Classical voice at San Francisco Music school under Nola Curtis, and accompanied these voice lessons with extensive training in Music Theory, and Composition lessons.
Currently Quinajon exhibits her art on music streaming platforms such as Spotify, and Apple Music for artists under her true name, Corinne Quinajon. “I stand for art and creative freedom”, Quinajon says. “This is merely the beginning of my journey, and I only see a bright path ahead of myself for all I plan to accomplish, and enjoy/ share as an artist.”
On December 28th 2021, artist Corinne Quinajon released second single "Home Now". The song was co-written with a fellow bandmate, Noh Yung Hoon of San Francisco; Quinajon writing the lyrics, and Noh Yung Hoon composing the music. Living in San Francisco was a very whimsical, and creative period of songwriting for the musician, but also very lonely and tiring, as a young female living alone in a big city. Home Now mirrors some of these experiences. "I learned that the constant searching, roaming, and travelling wasn't fulfilling my innermost desires of spiritual fulfilment", Quinajon says. "Home Now is symbolic for me; slowing down and returning to the Self. A little reminder that whatever I'm looking for is already here in the now for me to grasp." Home Now at first glance seems like a playful tune, but given a closer listen, you will detect a fallen down aspect or notes of weariness in the singers' voice- prompting the message, "it's been a long day, but I'm home now".
Originally written as a rock piece, Corinne sought out producer David Pichard of Hilo, Hawai'i to bring "Home Now" into a full production. They agreed to reimagine the song into an electronic pop song with added elements such as an electronic bass, synthesiser, and electronic piano performed by Pichard. Additionally, the beautiful hand painted album art is a watercolour by Samantha Peschuitta of Calgary Alberta. The artwork depicts a girl riding her bicycle down a wildflower strewn path, and gazing off into the distant sun. Corinne says, "While listening to Home Now, images of a girl riding her bicycle kept popping up in my mind, which led me to choose this idea for the album artwork. I was incredibly pleased with the outcome!"
