We had the pleasure of checking in with Dina and she was kind enough to respond to a few interview questions.
We are SO excited to be chatting with YOU! Your message for your new single "ONLY HUMAN" is powerful! Can you tell us the story behind the song and what went into the creative process for it?
Thank you so much for having me! I really appreciate that. The process started with just being authentic to how I was feeling at the time. I was very depressed and feeling a lot of anxiety and I wanted to write a very honest song that talks about my inner thoughts that I struggle with daily. I wanted a song that speaks about feeling overwhelmed and hard on yourself but somehow getting through that pain and coming out on top.
Who was your role model growing up?
My sister Lisa who is 5 years older than me was definitely who I wanted to be like. I would watch her paint or draw in awe (she’s an artist). I really just couldn’t believe how talented she was. She could sing like Mariah Carey and also play piano. It was really cool having her to look up to. I also was obsessed with the Spice Girls as a kid and Britney Spears became my role model through my pre teens and teens.
What is your musical philosophy?
I think my personal philosophy when it comes to music is just to not put anything out there that isn’t 100% what you love.
If you weren’t an artist what would you be?
I would be a photographer, fashion stylist, designer, makeup artist, interior designer, or I always think if I had stayed in Tennessee I might have opened my own clothing store.
