Exentric: "Mad World"
As the CNC machines grind down metal into medical tools, a worker operating the machine pauses for a second to ponder a lyric he wrote the night before. Wiping his forehead, he breaks just for a second to think about how he will spend his time on music when he gets back home after the job. This worker is Jacob Mazzilli known to some by the hiphop Alias, Exentric. Exentric's debut single, “Mad World” just dropped on all streaming platforms.
After a few near death experiences including a collision with an 18 wheeler shook his life, Mazzilli began rapping as an outlet to escape reality and immerse himself in poetry. Growing up in Plymouth, MA, Mazzilli admits to being bullied as a child when he found a safe haven with music. “I started rapping when I was about 13-14 years old just messing around and it soon became a crutch that I’ve continued to use throughout my life.” Says Mazzilli. Music has helped him through the tough times in his life.
His new single “Mad World” is an autobiographical medium tempo, pop infused hip-hop style track drawn from his own experiences and struggles. Some of his biggest influences are apparent in his rhymes and overall style such as Eminem, Tupac, Chris Webby, and Twenty One Pilots to name a few. This track features verse after verse of Mazzilli’s rapping including a chorus hook and driving beat produced by Dannson. The song boasts an active dialogue with a message that most can relate to especially during this past year of isolation due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
“Isn’t it crazy how we push and pull. Let’s give it all I’ll pay it back in full Lose our minds in this hazy dance and twirl. Come with me baby in this mad, mad world. Come with me baby in this. My whole life people told me I’d amount to nothing, So every night I’d write determined to prove I was something.” These lines from the new single ring with relevance in these times more than ever. This musical ode to self-reliance and artistic passion is just the start for this young artist. So keep an eye out for Exentric as he gets ready to release more music and the official lyric video for "Mad World" this week.
