Indianizer: OASI
Indianizer is an Italian band formed in 2013 and hailing from Turin, Italy. Like an expanding mycelium, the line-up has changed over time: what first started as a duo soon became a quartet until it reached the current five-piece line-up. The band consists of Riccardo Salvini (lead vocals), Salvatore Marano (synthesizer, electric piano, electric organ, vocals), Gabriele Maggiorotto (drums, percussion), and Marco Gervino (electric guitar, vocals).
Indianizer is a band devoted just as much to the dancefloor as it is to melodies and experimentation. Blending cosmic sounds, krautrock, house beats, percussive polyrhythms and tribalism into eccentric pop songs, Indianizer have created a unique sound that could be defined as “psych-tropical beat”. Their freaky lyrical imagery is enriched by several languages (Italian, English, French, Spanish and Creole) as well as by made-up vocalisations and transcendental chants, which all coexist in their record production.
Over the years, the Turin-based quartet has played virtually everywhere in Europe, participating in major festivals such as Transmusicales and Eurosonic and sharing the stage with internationally renowned artists such as King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard, Black Lips, Fat White Family, Elektro Guzzi, Hailu Mergia, Os Mutantes, Crimi, Tamikrest, Dj Gruff, Gianluca Petrella and Lino Capra Vaccina.
Their new album OASI is an album focused on the distorted condition of human beings nowadays. It investigates the relations and relationships between individuals, reflects the difficulties of an increasingly more complex, descends into the toxicity of a life punctuated by an elusive time. But it is not music that navigates in darkness: the tracks are imbued with an angry hope that permeates the sonic flow from beginning to end.
“Observing the barrenness of our surroundings, we sought a vision and embarked on a new journey in search of a metaphorical oasis that can bestow explosive joy and desire for revenge, critical spirit and sweet melancholy to those who will listen.” - Indianizer
