Interview: Brian Tell & The LoveMakers
Welcome, Brian Tell and The Lovemakers! It’s great to have you here! You have new music out! Tell us what this process has been like for you?
Well it's been a long time coming! I wrote these tracks over a year ago and was lucky to finish all the recording before the pandemic. It has been quite a journey from my days as a singer songwriter at open mics, to having the opportunity to record in a top BK studio.
If you could collaborate with any artist this year, who would it be?
There are too many to choose from and a lot, that people haven't heard of. But if I had to pick some of my favorites recently, it would be Nathaniel Rateliff. I enjoy everything he puts out, and have seen him several times live. I would love to have that full band sound that he has behind him.
I know this maybe an impossible question BUT if you had to pick - what has been your favorite song of this year and why?
This year I discovered Israel Nash and I haven't stopped listening to "Rolling On", since. Maybe it was one of the first songs I heard after I left NYC, during the pandemic, but something resonated with me on a huge level.
What inspires your music?
That is a tough question - because really everything does. My experiences on a day to day basis, the weather or just hearing something on the street. For me it's all in the moment, and whatever you come up with, will stick if you think it's good.
When you write new music - do you write the lyrics first? What is your process like?
It actually can go either way. I have so many books of lyrics and poetry, so I often go to them for new inspiration. But also, if I'm jamming by myself and a melody comes, I go with it, and make up words until I find the right ones.
Where can people listen to your music and connect with you on social media?
We should be available in every major outlet, but definitely Spotify and Apple Music. For now, we only have Instagram up, but please follow us @briantellandthelovemakers
