Interview: Rquees
We had the pleasure of checking in with Rquees recently and he was kind enough to respond to a few interview questions.
Rquees! Thanks for taking the time to talk to us! What are you working on right now in music!?
Right now I’m focused on performing and just building my fan base! I’m at the level where I can make tracks upon command so now it’s time to show the world what I can do. I got my Shades of Quees tape that is available everywhere but other than that I don’t have any music coming out that I can announce.
What was a roadblock you had that made you take another path but at the end of the road was a much better reward?
My biggest roadblock will have to be my own life. My life situation has kind of held me back but me being who I am I don’t just allow myself to be stopped. I'm not going to go around any roadblock. I’m going to go right through that thing. That's what I take pride in. If I got it set in my mind then it’s going to happen and there really is no stopping me.
Who is a musician that gives you chills when you listen to their music?
When Youngboy drops a new song you never know what to expect. This dude will sing his soul out then turn around and kill you with the next track. Every time I hear his music I’m just like damn this really where I’m going to be soon. I think the reason I connect with him so well is because we have experienced a lot of the same stuff. The only difference is he is blessed with a family in which I have not been.
Name a genre of music that you've never done but would love to dive into? Who would be a dream to collaborate with it on!?
Ahhhh I’m going to say country! Before I experienced isolation and just being by myself I used to listen to all sorts of music and country was one of the ones I decided to check out. Kane Brown is actually the artist that got me listening to it so he will also be the one I would collaborate with. A country song is highly unlikely but you never know what I might drop on y'all!!
