Interview: Teyquil
Hi Teyquil! Thanks for being here!
Awwww, thanks so much for having me.
What has been the biggest "pinch me" moment of your career thus far?
Wow, the biggest "pinch me moment?" The biggest thus far in my career would definitely be releasing music at this caliber. Mainstream platforms, working with professional publishing companies, interviews etc... That has been the biggest "pinch me" moment for me right now.
What could you give a 40-minute presentation on without any preparation beforehand?
I could definitely give a 40min. presentation on empathy and how important of a role it plays in my life. The presentation would be on how to display it amongst others and what it could do for a human being in need who may be struggling to find that kind of support. I'm a sap in that regard actually.
Top 3 things on your bucket list…
My top three things to check off my bucket list would be:
1. Release a full-length album.
2. Travel to London.
3. Meet Avril Lavigne!
Tell us about your new single! How did it come about?
Well, my new single is called "Need You." It came about after battling a deep depression that involved a break up I had with a girl that meant a lot to me. Though we never settled our issues, I felt it was still important to let her know how much I love and care for her.
Do you have any hidden talents?
Off the top of my head, I don't think I have any hidden talents. When I do discover that I have one or two I will definitely let you know. Lol!!!!
What is inspiring you right now?
What inspires me now is literally watching my dreams unfold before me and having the chance to embrace my biggest joys in life which is music. Also, my will to persevere and push through no matter what the odds are. I am blessed to have made it through college with four degrees despite my obstacles when I was living in my home where there was no heat, very little food, and only enough to get to and from school five days a week. That very same home got demolished because part of my kitchen caved in which led me to being homeless for a while. So, to have overcome that and more is truly inspiring me now because I made a promise to myself that I would never give up.
Name a genre of music that you've never done but would love to dive into? Who would be a dream to collaborate with it on?
I would love to give a punk rock or pop punk genre a try one day. O.M.G!!!!! My dream collaborator would be either Avril Lavigne or Joe Strummer of The Clash!!!
Please tell our readers how to stay up to date with you and your latest moves!
