Lyra: France
France is a song that embraces the feeling of spontaneity and escaping life through travel. Everybody in the UK gets the itch to drop their responsibilities and board a plane heading anywhere sunny with someone special and the music is designed to capture that feeling.
The band have extended their typical pallete with their choice of timbre. Nylon string guitars, bongos and other percussion elements were used to take the song abroad and bring out the feeling you get from being somewhere new and exciting. The drum groove also draws inspiration from Latin music and provides a solid foundation for the many sounds involved.
Lyra recorded France on the same day as their previous release “Rooftops” at That Sound Studio, North London. It was mixed and mastered by Nicolas Essig who has worked with artists including Lana Del Rey, Jaden Smith, Mark Ronson and Coldplay.
Since forming in 2016, Lyra have been making themselves known around the London circuit, performing at iconic venues including The Bedford, Spice Of Life, Paper Dress Vintage, 229 and Camden Assembly. They’ve shared the stage with the likes of Scouting For Girls, Blue and Sophie Ellis Bextor and are set to perform at CarFest, GoldCoast Ocean fest and more this summer.
