Quarry: "Micro Plastic People"
A promo video where Quarry is wrapped in plastic trying to get out of it and inviting people to send a video of themselves singing the choral intro of the song, “Micro Plastic People - Raising Hands”. Those clips will be featured in the official video. This is how Quarry releases his heartfelt new single “Micro Plastic People”. An effort to bring people together and scream against microplastic particles we eat, drink and breathe every day. The new single follows last year’s critically acclaimed album “Super Arcade”. The song was written before coronavirus pandemic and was inspired by a documentary film titled “Microplastic people” aired on Italian TV. Quarry sings about microplastic pollution using an ironic tone that sometimes becomes more bitter and cynical. He creates a new sonic landscape with sudden changes, vocals filtered through half cut plastic bottles, plastic percussions and multi-coloured guitar sounds. A new EP was set to drop in May to accompany a tour in Europe in May/June but due to pandemic Quarry has been forced to postpone both plans. Quarry explains “Considering nature as a set of resources that can be exploited for our benefit doesn’t seem to take us to a good place. Consciously or unconsciously, we humans live with problems we have created. Microplastics that pervade the planet is one of them. Will the pandemic really change the way we think? I wrote this song before the pandemic, but the apparently joyful chorus ’Micro Plastic People Wolf Down These Days’ probably reflects the way we face problems. We run too fast and tend to ignore them. Is it time to rethink our arrogant relationship with nature? Let’s do it.”
