Rénovations: "Renovations"
Electro-grunge, mainland European trio Rénovations freshen up 90s Rock by blending their driving grunge backbone with electronica touches.
After returning from a retreat in Thailand in July 2019, the French bassist and vocalist Charlotte was offered a gig opportunity, but she needed a few more musicians to build a rock set. She reached out to Italian-born drummer Gian, to discuss the revival of an old band project. After a few minutes at Edinburgh’s Brass Monkey pub, she convinced him - with the beverages’ help - to reunite. A few phone calls and messages later, the line-up was completed with Romanian guitarist Ioana and the band began building their alternative sound, based in Edinburgh, Scotland.
From the get-go, as of October 2019, Rénovations blur the lines between an originals band and a covers band, as a means to an end: to draw attention to their original material. Rénovations aim to kick start a connection with the audience by sharing a love for classic rock ‘n’ roll tunes, and to generated hype from their original music.
Despite the lockdown, Rénovations began home recording their debut single ‘Renovations’, among most of their current original material. The band saw a key opportunity out of a largely negative, unprecedented situation: to be creative and to create long-lasting connections with people who they can eventually meet when gigging will be possible again.
