Sacha Love: "Crystal"
After a first solo album ("819 Valence Street", 2018) as a tribute to New Orleans, Swiss artist Sacha Love has returned with two tracks released today. "Crystal" and "This Is Where I Hide" were started and recorded at the Fonderie studio (Fribourg) in December 2019.
According the artist himself "After touring as a trio, I felt like doing a few tracks on my own, like my lifelong idols can do so well," he explains. "I also had a lot of scores to settle. While "This Is Where I Hide" evokes withdrawal into oneself, escape, "Crystal" is rather, despite a joyful first reading, a silly and nasty track with a 60's psychedelic-pop touch. Both tracks have only ingredients that I love: slide guitars, melodic bass lines and some harmonic twists. A simple and subtle music at the same time. In the end, I'm not alone on the tracks because my friend Frédéric Jaillard played Würlizer on "This Is Where I Hide" in the middle of Paris, while my dear Grégoire "Shuttle" reprogrammed my lame drums on "Crystal". While working on new tracks at home during this long month of March, I took the opportunity to mix these two songs in my living room, no matter what my neighbours said".
The combination of Sacha Love’s soulful voice and twangy slide guitar effects reminiscent of David Lindley’s many contributions with Jackson Browne infuse his work with journeyman authenticity and verve.
