Shaun O'Reilly: Who the Hell?
You’ll struggle to meet a man more hard working in the music industry than Shaun O’Reilly. While most ground to a halt during the pandemic, it’s been relentless graft for him: 3 albums in 3 years, 2 books, 2 audiobooks… and there’s no stopping him at that, as he’s currently knee deep in demoing his fourth album.
Shaun’s releases to date have turned the heads of some major radio types. He now counts John Kennedy (Radio X), Lilian Smith (RTÉ Radio 1) & Dean Jackson (BBC Introducing) as committed fans, as well as destination Roots publication No Depression.
Working with Nick Pini (Laura Marling) on his past 2 albums, his sound blurs the lines between the melancholy Elliott Smith and the blues back of Captain Beefheart. His vivid blend of storytelling echoes the work of beat authors such as Charles Bukowski, William S. Burroughs and more modern authors such as Irvine Welsh.
His words are poignant and poetic, yet down to earth and extremely easy to relate to, and you’ll most likely catch him performing at a London pub most nights!
