The Brothers Gillespie: "The Night I Shot the Lights"
The Brothers Gillespie are an Appalachian band you need to know about.
The Brothers Gillespie are an Appalachian band you need to know about. Currently located in Johnson City, TN, the group has fired back up on all cylinders following the 2020 industry pause.
In 2019, the band released their debut album Love and Death, which was well-received, even garnering the attention of Rolling Stone. Following that release, the brothers showcased their style even more with the release of their twangy 2020 single “The Night I Shot the Lights” and then most recently a brooding live single “Pandemic Love or the Year Without A Spring”—a track that has all the gritty folk rock flavor you’d expect from the group with an almost Robin Pecknold-esque vocal flavoring.
Currently, the group is working on a conceptual 16 song album, a body of work they describe as “a bit of a departure from our previous releases . . . leaning more towards an indie rock sound”. While they’ve yet to release anything from this new album, this will be a fun progression to follow, and one we’ll all be anticipating.
In the meantime, The Brothers Gillespie have been taking back to the stage with multiple shows popping up across the Southeast. Be sure to follow the band and catch them at a city near you this year!
