Autumn Reverie: "Twenty/Twenty"
Madison-based Autumn Reverie has rapidly climbed to the top of the midwest hard rock scene, sharing the stage with acts such as Bush, Shinedown, Bobaflex and Chevelle. On their debut album, they live up to the hype they’ve generated with eleven expertly crafted songs that range from whispers to screams.
As an eerie monologue gives way to the intense opening track ‘Stalemate,’ it becomes apparent that this is no run of the mill rock band. Their songs take on a cinematic grandeur, with moments of quiet tension evolving into huge hooks. From the riff heavy violence of ‘F.F.I.A.P.B.’ to the melancholic ‘Better Days,’ Autumn Reverie proves to be as dynamic and versatile as any band in their genre.
Album highlight ‘Twenty Twenty’ encompasses everything that makes this band so special. Vocalist Jake Ramos delivers an impassioned performance while the band builds to a huge crescendo behind him. The result is a track that hard rock fans will find impossible to ignore. ‘Twenty/Twenty’ is the sound of a young band hitting their stride and showing that they are ready to take on bigger stages than ever before.
