Gaspard Sommer: "STP"

Gaspard Sommer: "STP"

Gaspard Sommer's universe is like a velvet box. Inside there nests eurythmic, delicate and warm music. Singer, pianist, producer, songwriter, the Geneva artist is both the architect and the shaper of each of his songs. Musician and producer of the singers Danitsa and Flèche Love as well as of the label Colors Records (Makala, Di-Meh, Slimka), he is part of the new generation of Swiss artists who export themselves internationally. Always ready to come out of his soulful cocoon, the singer notably collaborated with the boss of the Cheptel Records label, Robin Girod (Duck Duck Grey Duck/ Mama Rosin).

In 2017, Gaspard Sommer launches a solo with "Out For A Run", an EP that flirts between James Blake's post-dubstep and the nu-jazz/rap instrumentals of Tyler the Creator. After completing a master's degree in composition and production at the Jazzcampus Basel, the musician will continue his career in 2019 with his debut album "Asking Questions". Intimate and nocturnal, this album combines smooth jazz with melancholic pop. Surrounded by his musicians, Gaspard Sommer embarked on a new, more instrumental stage of his career.

With his new single "STP", the artist unveils the other side of his writing: French. But this time it's the Los Angeles sunshine that floods the production. Auto-tune, ultra-funky bass-drums, the singer embellishes this relentless rhythm with lyrics worthy of an Afro-futurist aubade. This track heralds a new studio album, more modern, neater and more colourful. You can imagine Henri Salvador or Flavien Berger on the microphone with Toro y Moi or Frank Ocean on production.
