Kyriakos Gabriel Varnava: "Tonight"
Cyprus-born, New Zealand-based artist Kyriakos Gabriel Varnava has released his accordantly strident alt-indie-art-rock single ‘Tonight’. His fourth release introduces a softer side to his songwriting which is discernibly free from fear when it comes to wearing his heart on his sleeve to help others grieve and come to terms with loss. The delicate yet resounding single, produced by Ant Tarrant, unravels through accordant layers of art-rock, vulnerability and alt-folk, inviting listeners into a tenderly resonant mindset. With Radiohead-style pensive keys, intimate indie guitars which ring with apathy and unapologetically romantic vocals, Tonight efficaciously captures the hopelessness which stays in the wake of broken promises. Kyriakos said: “This song was written during (and for) hours late at night when you are waiting and waiting for someone to come and you are left with empty promises.”
