Macey Estes: "Save Yourself"

Macey Estes: "Save Yourself"

Nashville-born, LA-based emerging LGBTQIA+ singer-songwriter-producer-performer Macey Estes has released her debut EP Save Yourself, prod. by Aaron Berton, Matt Crawford (Thutmose, JORDY, Syd B) with help from Max Heubel, via Coastal Artists/AWAL.

Save Yourself was previously slated to come out June 26th, but Macey delayed its release to focus on some more important issues at hand, aka advocating for BLM during the greatest Civil Rights Movement of our lifetimes. Macey has always been a vocal advocate and ally of both the LGBTQIA+ and BLM communities, and as of late she has been donating streaming profits to the Marsha P. Johnson Institute.

The EP includes three singles that Macey released this year: ‘Wreck It All’ is “full of raw emotion and smooth fun melody” (rockdafuqout), and the music video got us all in our feels (dir by Ian Dooley/prod by Alexa Munger/edit by Spencer Harvey); ‘What We’re Here For’ - the “dance/chill-friendly piece where Macey’s silky vocals deliver the value of self-love” (Aupium); and ‘Everything Is You’ - the “the R&B-tinged groover [that] spreads a sense of overwhelming elation and comfort through its heartwarming lyricism and equally jubilant vocal effort” (Digital High) was also accompanied with a dreamy music video (dir/prod/edit by Jess Kunkel).

Save Yourself is more than an EP to Macey. “It’s a promise to myself to always have my own back and to continue to fight for love and acceptance in my life. I learned so many new things about myself during the process of writing these songs, and it feels vulnerable to wear my heart on my sleeve like this, but I’m so happy to finally release 5 unique inner workings of my heart. These songs embody who I am as a lover, a fighter, and an all nighter. This is just touching the surface of the stories I have to tell.”

This year Macey has really begun to garner the attention that she deserves as the first two singles from the EP, ‘Wreck It All,’ and ‘What We’re Here For’ have been featured prominently in the Spotify-curated “Fresh Finds” and “Fresh Finds: The Wave” playlists, among other popular R&B/pop playlists. She had no idea what this year was going to have in store for her back in February when planning for the EP release, but she knew this was going to be a pivotal year, especially when LA Pride had Macey lined up to perform at this year’s festival. Then 2020 said “lol” . . .

Despite this wildly unpredictable time, Macey has kept her eyes on the silver linings and hasn’t let coronavirus hamper her hustle. With her first project under her belt, Macey is only just getting started.
