Pilar Vega drops another hot one: "La Boca"
Pilar Vega is a rising Swiss R&B/Neo Soul singer with Caribbean roots. Raised in Ticino, she currently lives in Zurich, although the word about her is spreading quickly all over Switzerland as well as in the Italian, French and German music scenes. Pilar won’t let you pin her down as a simple R&B singer and lyricist because she has been stretching her boundaries by collaborating with a broad spectrum of talents in different genres. In 2019, for example, she was featured in three very diverse songs: Slowdown (with R&B singer producer Tatum Rush), Romeo 6 (with Italian Hip Hop artist Al Denaro), and Redemption (with Zürcher EDM star Cella). Each track features Pilar’s unmistakably sensual voice and her female-empowering lyrics. In 2020 Pilar released her first single Crème (with Swiss electro producer Lokke) on YouTube and she is back working again with Tatum Rush on her new single + video “La Boca”. She is also part of the Zurich-based creative collective Synccity.
“La Boca”, yes, the title refers to that extremely colorful and iconic neighborhood in Buenos Aires, where so many stories begin every day. Pilar’s story is one of deception, wasted passion, heartbreak, but mostly of sensuality, feminine affirmation and independence. While the laid back and stripped-to-essentials rhythm section flirts with rocksteady/reggae vibes, Pilar’s soulful Caribbean-heated voice brings La Boca to the place where instant classics are made. The song was produced by Tatum Rush and Stefano Ceri.
The videoclip was shot in sunny Ticino and captures Pilar’s love affair (strictly with the camera) in strange, artificial settings mixing digital and analog aesthetics.
