Pilar Vega: "Manipule"
“Manipule” is the story of many women, of all ages, cultures and social positions. For the first time in French, Pilar Vega takes on the role of a young woman who has always lived light-heartedly and vivaciously, ready to offer her best smile to anyone she meets. One night, however, her light attracted the attention of the wrong person, and what followed left an indelible mark on her soul. In a world where, unfortunately, sexual violence against women is still present, Pilar Vega chooses to channel those myriad emotions of passion, fear and anger into a jungle of hypnotic and mysterious sounds with her captivating voice.
Pilar Vega is a talented Swiss R&B/Neo Soul singer of Caribbean origin. She grew up in Ticino and currently lives in Zurich, but people are starting to talk about her all over Switzerland as well as in Italy, France and Germany. Pilar won’t let you label her as just an R&B singer and songwriter because she is in constant need of extending her boundaries by collaborating with a wide range of talents and genres. In 2019 for example, she was involved in three very different tracks: Slowdown (with Swiss artist Tatum Rush), Romeo 6 (with Italian rapper Al Denaro), and Redempion (with Zurich EDM star Cella). Each track is carried by Pilar’s uniquely sensual voice and her powerfully feminine lyrics. In 2020 Pilar released the singles Crème, La Boca (presented at M4Music 2021) and Glow (chosen by Swiss radio stations as best song of the month for February 2021). Photo credit: Nora Smith
