Pilar Vega releases her solo EP "Women"
Pilar Vega is a rising Swiss R&B/Neo Soul singer with Caribbean roots. Raised in Ticino, she currently lives in Zurich, although the word about her is spreading quickly all over Switzerland as well as in the Italian, French and German music scenes. Pilar won’t let you pin her down as a simple R&B singer and lyricist because she has been stretching her boundaries with a broad spectrum of collaborations in different genres. In 2019, for example, she was featured in three very diverse songs: Slowdown (with R&B singer/producer Tatum Rush), Romeo 6 (with Italian Hip Hop artist Al Denaro), and Redemption (with Zürcher EDM star Cella). In 2020 Pilar released the singles Crème (with Swiss electro producer Lokke), La Boca (presented at M4Music 2021), Glow (chosen by Swiss radio stations as best song of the month for February 2021) and Manipule (her first French speaking song). In August 2021 she released Yemaya in collaboration with Mercee, another singer based in Zurich. Each track features Pilar’s unmistakably sensual voice and her female- empowering lyrics.
Pilar is now releasing her first solo EP called Women.
Women was born from an introspective journey that Pilar Vega embarked on starting last year aimed at shedding light on the relationship she has not only with men, but also with herself. It is no coincidence that the artist chose to attribute this very important title to her first EP, indicating the mutual need and the intense bond that unites women with each other as well as both sexes.
The EP consists of 5 songs that depict the artist‘s personal growth. Boundaries takes the role of a sort of premonitory mantra which exposes the root of many problems: the difficulty of setting boundaries. Faith celebrates what Pilar thinks would be the absolute remedy for her difficulties, namely taking care of oneself. Fool is the reaction that comes from all those negative experiences that Pilar had with men. Dear men, is a song with more benevolent and friendly tones; it is dedicated to male vulnerability in a world where it is still difficult to deal with one‘s weaknesses. Déjà vu reminds us that no matter how much effort one devotes to this introspective journey, one’s personal themes will recur again and again.
Pilar Vega hopes, by exposing her personal experience, to provide her listeners the inspiration they need to make their own introspective journey.
