Jacq: Wave of Steam
Swiss-based artist Jacq has just released her debut single “Wave of Steam”.
Playing with Jacq on her first single are the Haara Sound, while the art direction as well as the choices of additional effects and level balancing at the recording and premix stage they were entrusted to Davide Joerg aka Neihardt who commented that the song “hides beautiful surprises but mainly shines for two reasons. On the one hand it shows how important the simplicity of beautiful songwriting is through Jacq's individual experience. On the other hand, there is the complex dynamic of collaboration which in this collective creation is important (if not indispensable) in painting the right musical background for this work.”
Jacq herself explained “The melody of Wave of SWteam was born on a summer afternoon, as I listened to the chirping of birds, which by the way open and close the song in the background. The air was warm and steamy, the light fading the afternoon slowly receding, giving way to evening. This mix of sensations brought me back to memories of loves never experienced but felt deep inside, and I began to whistle what later became the refrain. And from there came the need to create the full song.”
Haara Sound added “Wave of Steam is a recipe for a balanced rock diet, containing all the elements you need, the iron of the guitar, the wood of the bass, the skin of the drums, the lightning of the synthesizer and the air of the vocals.
The verses come down distorting almost by inertia in the choruses like a deja vu of extraordinary strength and simplicity while the instrumental coda comes across as unexpected and anti-paradigmic because of its acoustic nature and a great dynamic range.
The classical guitar solo makes use of sustained touch. The purpose was to trace the details of the movement of the clouds and the gaze of the beholder, so that touch was chosen: warm but firm.”
