Seàn McComish: Fade Away

Seán McComish is a pop artist and songwriter from Fethard-On-Sea, Wexford, Ireland. Inspired as a child by hearing ‘Music and Me’ by Michael Jackson, he decided to pursue a life in music. McComish began his career with an impressive start in the Irish live music scene – some of his very first performances in 2015 were at Whelan’s and the prestigious Ruby Sessions, which he followed with the acclaimed EP, ‘The First Step’. It earned him the chance to perform with the likes of Wild Youth, Calum Scott, Gavin James, The Academic, Aslan and Jake Carter, before embarking in 2017 on tours across Austria and Ireland. He has gone on to receive widespread airplay, including coverage from Beat 102-103, and RTÉ 2FM. The pandemic saw McComish turn limitation into opportunity. He built a home studio, and discovered a latent love for music production and mixing, proving his capabilities with breakout 2021 single, ‘Stay Away From Me’. Seán McComish has made himself the definitive all-rounder pop artist, and one to keep a close eye on in 2022.

“I was a kid, to be honest.”

So says Seán McComish, speaking about his upcoming single ‘Fade Away’. “It’s interesting,” he explains, “because so much has changed since I wrote this. It’s an older me, singing the song of a younger me.” Written in 2017, it quickly became a crowd favourite in McComish’s acclaimed live set. Having discovered a new love for the production side of music over the lockdown, he felt it was time for the beloved set closer to get a proper studio rendition.

“On my last song (‘Stay Away From Me’), I made 12 different fully-fledged versions of it before we finally finished it. But finally – I got it. I figured it out. Over the last few years, I feel I’ve finally cracked producing and mixing. And I just love doing it. It’s a lot of trial and error. But I love it.”

Fade Away’ is a relentless and saucy slice of pure pop. Silky smooth synths, driving unstoppable drums, and tight vocals, its infectious rhythm looks set to dominate radio throughout Spring 2022 and beyond. It is written, produced and mixed by Seán McComish, with additional production and percussion from Darren Bradley, and mastering by Fergal Davis (Muse, Sinéad O’Connor).
