Indie folk singer-songwriter Sky McKee, known for his intimate storytelling and reflective soundscapes, is back with a new EP titled Less Is Less.

Following his recent single “Anita (I’m Losing)”—an introspective track about the ache of losing cherished relationships—McKee continues to navigate life’s most challenging emotions. Through a minimalist yet evocative approach, Less Is Less explores three personal themes: grief, embarrassment, and nostalgia.

“I’ve spent so much time trying to explain my life away in lyrics, I started wondering—what’s the point? Why do we create what we do if not to connect?” McKee shares. In this EP, he strips down his storytelling, cutting through the fluff and leaning into the core of his emotions to create songs that resonate easily with listeners.

Less Is Less opens up with the track “Talking Heads”, an homage to a friend who offered him solace during a difficult childhood. “Evan Moring was a friend when I had no one,” McKee shares. “He was older, and we’d drive around listening to his mixtapes in his Volvo station wagon. Those moments kept me grounded and gave me hope. That’s why I started creating music in the first place”.

The previously released “Anita (I’m Losing)” follows with a tender portrayal of the ache of losing someone dear. Inspired by a family friend who McKee greatly admired, this track resonates as a tribute to love and loss, while maintaining a glimmer of hope.

The EP closes with “Broken Beyond Belief”, a raw, soul-stirring track that continues McKee’s journey through complex human emotions. This final song deepens McKee’s exploration of vulnerability, capturing the strength found in confronting life’s challenges.

With Less Is Less, McKee’s signature bedroom folk sound is enriched by touches of acoustic pop, creating a layered contrast to the EP’s heavy themes. Fans will find familiar warmth in McKee’s guitar melodies, paired with lyrics that linger long after the song has ended.
