The Yelins: Palm Trees
Really? It's more like England in the '60s: The Yelins, the most vintage band in Switzerland, release with "Moon On The Rocks" a second album, moody and sophisticated, celebrating the great hours of rock, but always with a charm of their own.
The Yelins are not afraid to go all out. They love vintage aesthetics and go all the way: from their love for all things analog to the instruments they use (vibraphone, Mellotron, Rhodes, Ludwig drums, etc.) to their visuals and clothing style, everything here is a celebration of the sixties and seventies. And if musically they like to quote Pink Floyd, The Doors, Serge Gainsbourg and Arctic Monkeys as influences, rather than getting bogged down in the pastiche of a bygone era, they manage to offer with "Moon On The Rocks" a record with a strong identity and a contemporary taste. This is thanks to an exceptional writing quality, where the tracks flow with an absolute fluidity and where the balance between unstoppable choruses and psychedelic flights of fancy hits the mark.
"Palm Trees" is the first single from the album "Moon On The Rocks" (Le Cèpe Records) due for release in April.
