Anthony Presti: "Feather Dress"

Anthony Presti: "Feather Dress"

Bay Area singer/songwriter, Anthony Presti, recorded his second studio effort, Existentialism, in February of 2017 at San Francisco’s esteemed studio, Tiny Telephone Studios. Founded by Bay Area Indie musician and recording engineer, John Vanderslice, the studio is equipped and operated as a fully analogue studio. Tiny Telephone has produced albums by such bands as Death Cab for Cutie and Thao and the Getdown Staydown, as well as hundreds of other bands from around the country.

Existentialism features that warmth heard in records from the sixties and seventies, before the digital age of recording. Engineered/Produced by James Riotto, the album features an all star cast of musicians and was recorded live, capturing a very organic and pure sound. Presti is accompanied by Jason Slota (Thao and the Getdown Staydown) on drums, Shaun David (Granite and Green) on guitar, Leah Van Dyke (Brothers of Siren) on vocals, Rob Shelton (Meerna) on keys and Burt Lewis (Jerry’s Middle Finger) on bass.

Recorded in a week in San Francisco’s mission district, the album takes on an Americana and folk sound with subtle alternative rock and pop influences. Many of the songs stand on their own, from the country laden opening track “Next of Kin” to the beautiful duet between Presti and Van Dyke on “One Step Closer,” the more modern pop anthem “Reach for the Stars” and the enchanting melodies of “Feather Dress.”

Presti is currently working on his third studio effort, tracked at Hyde Street Studios (Grateful Dad, Train, Green Day), and is currently slated to be released later this year.
