Best of Feelings: "Sweat"
Barcelona-based Best of Feelings is back to liven up the dog days of summer with their 11th single entitled “Sweat”, and it will make you do just that! A danceable number which speaks of summertime frustrations in the big city, flatmate unpleasantries and escaping it all by taking a plunge into the cool sea.
Sweat was originally conceived in Ottawa, Canada while preparing for a recording session (of other material) with Zef’s brother Jakub Racek (aka Pocket Writer). The song came out of nowhere, with improvised lyrics, and then 6 months later it was recorded at Aclam Recording Studio in Barcelona when the whole band regrouped for a recording session (Michael flying in from Montreal, Gonzalo from Madrid and Marcelo from Milan). The lyrics were rewritten as a collaboration between Zef and Michael. Sweat speaks of summertime frustrations in the big city: mosquitos, loud traffic and unbearable heat. The mood and rhythm of the song transport the listener to the refreshing escape of the sea, a refuge for the overheated city dweller. Its sunny sound is danceable despite the darkness of the lyrics which speak of wanting to give up when all goes wrong, but in the end grooving to the beat and riding the wave (of the surf guitar riffs provided by special guest Marcelo Bertozzo) is the preferred option.
