Singer songwriter Dave Clark recently released his new single “Eyes on the Road”. Following up on the last single, “Puddles and Water”, Dave Clark’s new track is another evolution of his unique sound, blending complex and absorbing acoustic guitar playing with a strong melody and infectious rhythms.
As with his other releases the lyrics are thoughtful and relatable, picking up on themes of self reliance and introspection. The song stands on it’s own as a great piece of music but for those who like to take in the lyrics it offers a lot.
Recorded in the studio with the collaboration again of producer Glenn Kerrigan the listener will be pulled in by the complex interplay of percussion and instruments, the track seems to wash over you leaving you wanting to hear more.
With “Eyes on the Road”, says Dave, “instead of just laying down a beat, which would have been the simple option, I had the idea that I wanted to integrate the percussion with the ebb and flow of the song itself. I’m very happy with the way it turned out, it’s deceptively simple but drives the meaning of the song.”
As well as writing and recording, Dave Clark performs in and around London, he feels that connecting with real audiences is important. “ It’s about telling stories isn’t it?” he says. “With real people seemingly becoming less important we need to maintain that direct relationship”.
