Houstones: Ittero
Houstones is an alternative rock/stoner rock band formed in 2012 in Locarno, Switzerland. The band was founded by vocalist and guitarist Saul Savarino, who has been the only constant member throughout multiple line-up changes. The current line-up consists of Savarino alongside Joel Pfister (Drums, percussion), Maurizio Cuomo (bass guitar) and Serena Maggini (Keys and vocals). Formed after the dissolution of Savarino’s previous band Macnamara, Houstones developed a style of riff-oriented, heavy rock music. Their sound has since evolved to incorporate a variety of different styles and influences such as Motorpsycho, Verdena, Flaming Lips, Queens of the stone age, Melvins, dEUS, Nirvana, and Tame Impala to name a few.
"Ittero" is the first single from the new chapter Houstones and the first with lyrics in
Italian. It's a song where you can hear more of the dream pop influences and where you can see for the first time a "massive" use of keyboards.
The song is also released in a video from director Ambra Guidotti who described it as
"The video is a collection of the little things that happen around me and the challenge is to give it a form, without a clear logical thread decided a priori. The fulcrum is to manipulate the footage and be seduced by the images and their spontaneity. A little bit video-art or a little bit directing. The basic idea basic idea was to wear that shortcuts aesthetic, that informal approach of instagram stories and pass it under the lens of a film montage."
