STPH: "Salut tout le monde"
STPH. (pronounced 'steph'): behind this name-logo hides an atypical indie pop duo made in Brussels. Here, modern textures and 80's pop reminiscences (etienne daho, rita mitsouko) meet and mate without any complex. Behind their sometimes frank, often bored smiles, Aurore and JS disguise and de-dramatise the existential questions that inhabit them. In song, the industrial areas that were devastated in their childhood become a source of wonder, and the exploration of the social codes of their surroundings an outlet.
“Salut tout le monde” (“Hi everyone” in English) is an indie-pop track in its purest form. It is nonchalantly inspired by Ariel Pink. Its catchy chorus is an ironic call to party! STLM is one of the six tracks of STPH.’s first EP (pronounce “Steph”), Pluie d’été.
